'Curate-a-Show' has been organised by artist Ella Phillips as a part of The Viking Gallery's six week exhibition: 'South London Goes to the Seaside', organised by South London duo, Splitpin Projects.
'Curate-a-Show' incorporated flash mobs of artists as artworks, appearing at sites around Margate and asking the public to curate a show at their pop-up, guerilla-style gallery. Participants received stickers for each 'artwork' they interacted with in order to claim prizes from The Viking Gallery.
Working in collaboration with Turner Contemporary during Margate’s Summer of Colour, the event proved to be a great weekend by the sea!
It was an opportunity to take part in a new gallery launch and community event, and to develop new networks and artisitc presentation skills. Each artist was able to wear their own artwork as a digital printed t-shirt, a novel way to exhibit Julia's silkscreen print "creature comforts."
